Astronomy Science Unit
Students practiced the motion of the planets around the sun. Students were able to represent different distances and speeds of planet revolutions which led to their understanding that each planets orbit is different.
Students use graphic organizers to arrange scientific ideas and concepts. In this activity, students create a flip chart to study science vocabulary terms.
Students participated in a student-led class discussion on the definition of "space exploration" and created a Science Exploration timeline.
Students use moon manipulatives to demonstrate the moon's revolution around the earth and the changes in moon phases.

Students then organized their understanding of the moon phases with a fun oreo activity.
Family Science Night
Family Science Night is held once a year for Leslie Middle School. I volunteered to assist with the science activities and teach a 30 minute lesson and activity to students and their families. The following is my lesson plan and pictures from the night.
